"Left the pool" means LTA stopped offering a number — almost always because someone won it. LTA doesn't publish bid results. Unused numbers return after a year and are counted separately.

The check letter, worked out

A plate's last letter is a check letter. LTA doesn't publish the rule, but its bidding list prints the letter beside every number, so we can test one: weights 9, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2 on the prefix's last two letters and the four digits, summed, modulo 19, looked up in AZYXUTSRPMLKJHGEDCB. It matches all 13,837 plates in the last capture, and every capture re-checks it.

Pad the number to four digits for the calculation: SPM103 is SPM0103.

Verified against LTA's data, not confirmed by LTA.

How the bidding works

Bidding is weekly: Friday 1:00 am to Monday 4:30 pm, results Wednesday noon. A new series gets a longer main exercise, Friday to the following Wednesday.

Minimum bid $1,000 incl. GST, plus an $18.53 non-refundable fee. One bid lists up to three numbers and wins at most one. Losing bids are refunded. A won number is valid for a year and can't be transferred.

Bid on OneMotoring. EVolt is not connected to LTA.
